well the JDM ecu is probably calibrated to run on higher octane fuel, which is pretty much standard in JDM land - the USDM ITR ecu is set for 92 octane or better, so that would probably be a better choice - why not ditch them both and get a reprogrammed p28? or a Hondata???

I am also considering the reprogramed p28, Im just afraid that they dump too much fuel, and lead to bad gas milage and carbon deposits... any thoughts?

i have a skunk2 chipped p28 and yes, it does run EXTREMELY rich without any other tuning. that doesn't mean you shouldn't get a chipped p28 though. the chip is just a baseline program that you can tune from using a VAFC or other air/fuel controller.

well, lets do some math,

obdII-I harness 200
p28 chipped ecu 250
vafc 250

total $700

how much more is hondata???

I got rid of my JDM ECU because of the speed limiter it had. As I understand it, USDM ECU's do not have a speed limiter. I'm running a chipped p28 and the limiter is no longer an issue.

Why would you even consider an OBD1 P28 if you were just going to use a VAFC? They work fine on OBD2 cars.

Is there a difference in RPM limit from the two?

I dyno'd back to back the USDM and JDM ITR ecu and gained 5-7hp everywhere with the JDM R ecu. Also I was running 93 octane and no other changes made inbetween runs.
I only got rid of the JDM ecu because I went boost otherwise I would have kept it.

Like another $200

the difference is the vafc 250 ~ 300 the hondata I bought mine for 450.

I have a JDM ITR. According to the tack, I hit the rev limiter at just over 9100, I noticed the day I let my mate have a drive, he drove it like a wusss till I told him to floor it, he then promptly hit the limiter.

PS The speed limit has been bypassed so I dont stop at 112mph or what ever it is, dont know if this upgrade increased the RPM limit as it was done b4 I got the car.
