Alright, I currently have a Nighthawk Black Pearl 2002 Honda Accord SE Coupe. It's an i-4 and an automatic (
). My dad has a Dark Teal 1997 Honda Accord LX Coupe with an i-4 and it's a 5spd. Should I approach him about switching cars? I don't think he'll say no. I want to do an h22a swap and beef up the internals then boost it. I hate the color of his car though and I was told that for a GOOD paint job (what I would want, complete body) it's hella expensive.
Suggestions?

5th gen 5-speed no doubt
But a turbo H22a 6th gen would be pretty cool, I cant say ive seen alot of them, or even one for that matter. Big $$$ though and you would be ruining a pretty new car, swaps etc IMO are for older cars.

An H22a into a 4th or 5th gen

if i keep the 6th gen, it's getting turboed, too.

But buying another car is not an option. Can't u read?!
!!!
You just gotta figure out what you want. Do you want a car that'll have no problems and run good (but weak
) or do you want a car that will most likely have more maintenance but will be an awesome car to drive?
You can guess what I chose. I used to drive a 2000 Accord 5sp and had to think about it...

Yeah why not go with a 2-in-1 swap? Get yourself the H22A block and tranny and all the accessories, make sure you get a deal with a junkyard for all the extra parts (especially for the tranny swap, hardest part to accomplish professionally), and take out the f23a6 or something, and welcome the 5 speed H22A ready for much fun...
*e-slap* lol. you should know, my parents paid for half of it, so if I sold it, i'd only get like $6 or 7k of the profit. Not enough to buy a decent Accord.

You could buy my car. *shrug*
jk.Apparently some of you are missing the question.... 97 OR 02?!?!?
(Gets on Soapbox)
- Swapping the motor in the 02' will negate your powertrain warranty.
- Turboing the motor in the 02' will probably negate most of your powertrain warranty.
- Doing the swap will kill your residual resale value in the 02'.
- Doing the turbo right will cost almost as much as the swap with the potential to blow the engine in the 02' if not done right.
- You also have to ask - will this car pass smog? If no...then no registration & no road priveledges (if applicable).
Convince your dad to switch and take the 97....it's out of warranty + a 5 speed already. Swap that one & keep the original engine/tranny in the garage...it's a lighter car anyway. Preserve your financial equity in the 02'...leave it untouched.
