Where do you go and what do you have to do to obtain an NHRA driver's license? Is it just one license or different classes like a regular driver's license?

 

I presume that you are referring to the NHRA 9 second license, as this is the first one available to my knowledge. You must have a car capable of 9 second passes first. Then you have to get the paperwork from your local NHRA track, get it all filled out, and have a physical done to make sure you're up to the task. Then oce you have all that good stuff, you go to your local track and make a series of passes in different styles ie: 1/2 pass, 1/4 pass, full speed pass. There is a series of passes that you have to do. HTH

For a nhra sport copmpact drivers license code 4b, you first need to get the medical papers, and then get the physical. Your car realy only needs to be able to go over 135. I got my license, because I would regularly go over 140 at my local track, they told me I need a sportsman license. for the actual test talk to your local nhra track, but you have to make 6 passes 4 easy, and 2 fast enough to go over 135. Think about alot of fwd cars are gonna go over 135 , but not alot go 9's. That is why you need a license for 9's or 135.

You can download and print the license and physical forms from nhra.com. If this link doesn't work, go to nhra.com(not nhrasportcompact.com), contact nhra, FAQ. Copies and faxes are ok, as long as NHRA gets a copy with the original signatures and information.

I just remembered that the forms you get from nhra.com will NOT have any Sport Compact classification on them. Just write "Sport Compact" or "Import" where it says "other". The license you are going for is a 4B. If going faster than 7.50, it's a 3B.
