what does the water pump do? it prolly pumps water, but to where and why? thanks

It is a bladed piece that spins with the timing belt (on Honda motors) and pumps the coolant/water mix throught the engine, radiator, and heater core. This is so it can take heat out of the motor to keep it from overheating.
