Chikara Header fitment and gasket ???'s
hey i just got a chikara header. it has a 4-2-1 design, i believe its the torque step header. will this header bolt up with no problems to my stock cat??? oh, and i need the gasket that goes in between the downpipe of the header to the cat, do you think that i could use a stock honda gasket??? let me know
i got the same header
1- yes it will bolt on to your cat
u can use the one on ur exhaust manifold downpipe or get a new one from a muffler shop... they are like $3

IMO it performs very good
the diff on aceleration after 2k are noticeable
i like the design , the welds are very well done, the header its good.. only draw back is that the paint fades off.... other than that its a greate header..i like...
IMO does same power gain as a DC and payed 1/4 price for it....

ok so the stock gasket will work??? i went and bought one earlier just wasn't sure. also what did you do about the o2 bung??? one mine it's not where the bung is on the stock manifold it's on the downpipe part??? what do i do about that? thx
i had just put mine on last week ,... it was a big dif over stock very well worth the price, and for the paint coming off it was ment to flake off, its for rust prevention during shipping.

What year thunderbird gasket do i need? and what model? is it the same gasket, the stock downpipe gasket for a thunderbird? thx and whats a heated o2 sensor? i really don't have more than about 20 to spend with the gasket included will that cover it??? thx
no
if u have a Z6 or Y8 the collectors are 2", wich means that lil donut thingy works fine sicne the header tis a 2" collector...
i have a Bosh O2 sensor...and ti works fine... if u have stock i recomend u getting a new one...

whats a heated o2 sensor and about how much does one cost??? I got the header off of a guy on here, his name is jasonb. he had two headers for sale, one he thinks is a custom header and he had the chikara. i believe he still has the custom one if anyone wants it. i believe he wants 100 shipped for it. thx for all the help.
so about how much is a heated o2 sensor and can't i just extend the wires??? also for the gasket where the header meets the head, can i use a stock gasket?

ok, everything is cleared up except for two things. will the OEM gasket in between the manifold and the head work with the header??? and also a downpipe gasket for a 96 civic ex will work b/c it has a 2" collector right?

i dont know what the ID of a 96 ex is on that doughnut
The stock header gasket will work...and i used my stock doughnut gasket as well.
As for the performance of the header...i really dont think its that good. I felt a slight improvement over the stock exhaust mani...but it wasnt that big of a difference. The welds really arent that nice, the runners need to be cleaned up a good bit, the collector is ****, and its made out of really thin material. Overall id say its a good header for someone on an extreme budget...but i would save a little longer and get something nicer. As of right now the Chikara header is holding me back alot...but what can you really expect for $125?
As for the comment that it outperforms the DC headers...or even that they perform as well as them...well thats just simply not true. DC headers really arent that great IMO...but id sure as hell take one over my POS Chikara anyday.

Cool, well i got this 92-95 chikara with HTC coating for less than 50 bucks shipped, SO, as long as it's a tad bit better then stock, that's cool with me.
