Default Rebuild or swap?

My car (97GSR w80k) has either a bad piston ring or valve seals..

I was just wondering what would be cheaper?
To rebuild or to swap it out for another B18C?

Can someone give me a ball park figure on both of these options?

Brudda'
It depends on what you want out of the motor. If you want a reliable daily driven car then get the rebuild. But if you want a street machine get the swap and start building it BEFORE you put it in. Just my opinion

If you've got plenty of money, swap and build. Then repeat.

Rebuild cost depends on whether you're gonna upgrade any parts.

Longblocks are typically $2600 to $3000. I've seen lower tho.

For me, I'm infinitely more comfortable with engine building b/c I hate not knowing what's gonna be broken or missing on the swap.

Really, it comes down to how much time and money you have to waste/spend.

if u can take the down time...rebuild the thing, the 3k u would spend on a new one could easily fix and upgrad your current motor

I would like to go with the rebuild route and maybe get some aftermarket parts in there since now is the best time....I now have a legit reason to buy new parts and stuff...

Nothing fancy...just a lil' more juice than stock thats all....

Anyhow, I just want my daily runner fixed.....and to be able to run for another 80k......
