Would wrapping your intake tube with heat wrap be good?
If it prevents heat from escaping your exhaust might it prevent heat from entering your intake tubing? I'm getting some for my exhaust but I think I might try putting it on other things so I want to know much to buy. Just wondering if you think it would allow less heat in.

i don't think it would help...
ex. if you have a CAI you always have fresh cold air travelling at a good speed to your throttle body, i don't think the air would have enough time to raise in temp going that fast...
and if you have a short ram intake then i don't think theres a pooint at all....it's just sucking in warm air anyways....

As I have seen then discussed on several occasions I will give you the conclusion I have come to. I don't think it would be all that beneficial. Let's look at two possibilities.
1. You have a short ram intake - You are sucking all your air from the engine bay. Chances are that air is going to be pretty warm so wrapping your intake tube would be more or less pointless.
2. You have a cold air intake - You are pulling cooler air from outside the engine bay. So in theory you would want to wrap your intake to keep the air cool. Just keep in mind that the air inside the intake tube is going to be moving pretty fast. More than likely there isn't going to be enough time for the air to heat up. So again benefits would be very minimal if at all.
You would probably see greater benefit from wrapping your header. By doing that you will keep the engine bay cooler allowing colder air to be sucked in. Wrapping the header will shorten it's life though.

i think it helps. i had it unwraped and the tubing would get pretty hot, so i had some heat wrap laying around and i ened up wraping mine, i dont notice a differance, but i am pretty damn sure it helps. its not hot any more, i think thats better.
Well I wraped my short ram with heat wrap, which use to get hot after an hours use, but now it stays damn cold, and I took 3" aluminum ducting from where the front right turn signal use to be, through the hole, right under the filter.
I does help a little after you are moving at a decent speed (not much though), But for a $3 mod, I think it was worth it
