Default OT : oneway tire rotation

what would happen to the tire or the car if you put a tire on a car that is suppost to turn only one way? I had put some tires on my ride and I didn't notice they where oneway rotation tires. I have since corrected the problem. but not after putting 500 miles on the tires first............................the tires are hurcules g3000h 195/60/15....

The tire will not do what it is supposed to do (ie: wear faster, grip worse, not deal with adverse terrain and weather situations as well).

i've heard of the tread pulling off and the tire "blowing up"
might just be a rumor though

There would be no problem in running directional tires the wrong way for the short time you did it. There would only have been a decrease in performance noticed only if you reached the performance limits of the tires in certain conditions while they were backwards. So, relax and forget about it.

dont reversed directionals acctually help with cornering, i think i remember hearing that's the only good thing you get by doing that

is it ok to have directional tires remounted on the opposide side tires halfway thru the life? i rotate mine front/rear but negative camber/poor toe is taking its toll on the insides of my tires =\

don't confuse directional tires with the ones that are just asymetrical. directionals have a direction of rotation, so they have to stay on one side of the car once they are mounted. the asymetricals have an inside and outside so they have to be mounted on the rim properly, but they can switch sides of the car after they are mounted.

DIRECTIONAL

ASYMETRICAL

it cant be THAT bad....they do expect you to drive in reverse sometimes on directional tires....

but they don't expect you to do it at more than maybe 10 mph...

so how do you rotate uni directional tires?? like falken ziex ze-512???

also when you rotate normal tires on a front wheel drive car do you rotate in a cris cross patterN? cuz on the kumho website they show a diagram where you take the fronts and just put them on the back and then take the rears and reverse them up front...its hard to explain but ill post up a link to what i mean

http://www.kumhousa.com/Care/TireRotation.asp

you take the front left and put it on the back right, front right goes to the back left, and the back left goes to the front left and the back right goes to the front right.

that is for non-directional tires. if you have directionals (typically thread patterns that are V-shaped) it should be front to back, keeping them on the same side.

I still wonder if it is safe to have the tires remounted on the opposite wheels haflway thru the life of it??? I asked a discount tire guy when i got my alignment and he said they dont do that for anyone... he didnt quite give me a good explaination.

I had that done on some directional snow tires. It helped them wear out more evenly. I've had directional summer tires, but they wore out evenly so I didn't bother trying to flip them. Look at them when they're halfway worn out, & decide then... If they wear out more on the inside or outside shoulder, its probably that your camber isn't set right for your driving style.

you can have directionals demounted and then mounted on the opposite, its just a pain in the rear, but tire places do, at least the one i work at does
