What would you do?
As some of you may know Saturday night my car decided to put a 4" hole in the front of the block. I have 2 choices. I have a line on a f22 shortblock from a fellow member on here for a very good price. I could buy it, put some 11:1 pistons in it and possibly a cam and maybe even some headwork.
Or
I could borrow some money and swap in a h22. H22 would remain stock, and prob be that way for a long time.

I don't really drag race, for now I daily drive my car and use it for HPDEs. Eventually it will be track only.

How long do you plan to have the car? I'd go short-block F22 + just a cam (wouldn't this have to be custom ground??). Keep it cheap-cheap-cheap...
But that's just my cheap-***.

hrm, how about this. Replace my short block, then borrow some money and put a turbo on my car?
Remember, i don't really drag race that much. Mainly autox and HDPEs and daily driving.

im sorry, i know how many people love the f22 and how many people want it to be a successfully boosted motor, but i just CANT believe that it would last 2 days running hpde...
i say h22... look how many events dave(4doorh22) has competed in. i know helluva lot more than me and his **** is still strong. i know what my plan is, save, save, save, build, buy, save, save, race, save, blow up, save, re-build... lol itll happen sooner or later!
I had a similar experience, but the hole in the block was caused by some now "out of business" dumbass jacking up my exhaust manifold instead of the block to change a front motor mount. The ******** broke the heat shield boss off the engine. I stayed with the F22. I found another engine for $100
, and then ordered the crower rods and 11:1 wiseco pistons from Race Engineering. Web camshafts is supplying the cam. The head is going to Portflow, as soon as I get off my *** and ship it. I should have decent power, and to the naked eye it's just a stock Accord.
