I got my whole swap for $400, probably cause they didn't know what they had.

depends what year, mileage, etc... if it came from a 90-93 teg i would say it isn't worth it... i've seen whole motors go at a local junk yard for $75... i highly doubt the trans, ecu, and harness are worth all the extra cash

to me, 8 bills is good. i don't think i can get a b18a for anything cheaper than $1200 from where i'm at. but then again, i might not be looking hard enough.

most junk yards in Cali know what they have and what your buying. Its not often you pull a motor and tranny and they let it go for under $100. So dont believe everything you hear. $800 is more then fair.. in fact a good deal IMO. Unless you have hook ups.. then anything under $500 is impossible.. or the seller is desperate.

Yes, but if you live in a small town you can find one cheap. I got mine out of a pile of engines for $75 just before they were about to be recycled. Its form a 91 LS. I can see paying up to $800 for something newer, but my main concern was getting the B18 block.

It depends on the prevailing market value in your area. If $800 is as cheap as you can get where you live (or close enough to pick it up yourself), then it is a good deal. Beware of better deals elsewhere. If the motor must be shipped, a good deal can quickly become a not-so-good deal.

$800 for a complete swap isn't bad. I paid $300 for the longblock and some odds and ends. I had to buy a tranny too though. If its in good shape i'd do it.

Bought 1 at $600 in running condition......bent two rods and damaged the crank. My replacement was $500.....no problems so far.

Edit: This was from local yards in Alabama.

I gave 600 to a local guy for motor, tranny, ecu and about everything else in the engine bay except driver side axle, suspension and brakes. If I can get the driver side brake stuff I can throw them on my car so it was kinda a half freebie.
