Who here has installed new guage faces into the stock cluster?
I tried doing a search but came up empty handed, so, has anyone here installed new guage faces into their stock cluster? how had was it to do? did it take a long time? I was considering installing some white faces into my 99 Teg.
Thanks
Thanks
I had some indiglos for about a month... You have to have some kind of doubled sided tape cause the teg doesn't have screws on the cluster to hold the gauges down... Some probs I ran into were my temp, fuel, and rpm tended to stick and not work very well...

I installed the NR Auto white face gauges. Great quailty product. They require taking the needles off and removing the stock black faces. Removing the needles take patience and a steady hand. I was crapping bricks and praying I wouldn't break them. It took me a couple of hours because I was very careful.
Just remember to make a note of approx. where the needles were, ie - RPM at idle, what the gas gauge is at and so on. To get the speedo correct I didn't install the clear plastic bezel and followed my friend down an empty straight road. We had our phones and he told me he set his speed to 40mph and I followed and installed the needle at 40mph. It's not dead on but close enough. I think they look really nice.
As for the indoglo's, most are the kind you just lay over the stock faces and keep them in place with double sided tape. The reason the needles stick is because the tape loses it's stickiness and the face lifts up contacting the needle. Another reason they come up is the design of the wiring that leads out of the faces. Because they do not contour to the black bezel it pushes on it and tends to push up on the faces. And again, if the tape isn't sticky anymore, the face will interfere with the needle. But they are easier to install since most don't require taking the needles off, but can be a pain later on unless you super glue these suckers to the factory faces. (which sucks if you want to go back to black faces.)
Good luck and just take your time.

i used spray adhesive at first on mine, about a week later my needles started sticking, peeled them off --lots of clear spots were black used to be..then came the super glue,no problems yet..
here'e some advice on my part..cut away part of your cluster housing(backside where you cans see it) because when i snapped the bezel down, i cut the wire on a gauge so make room for the wires -so i got a free replacement from the seller from ebay

...Ooof. Not good. Were they the type of face that required to remove the needles to install?

spy adhesive worked great for me. My needles stuck just for like the first hour.....it sprayed like it was a web, kinda fun to play with. if u have adhesive spray, just make sure the spray doesnt touch the needles when u slide it thru. Also, just try and line everything up correctly, my gas tank is a little off, so when i fill up and past full on the new gauge, but i have to fill up before it actually gets to E. took me a couple hours total
