Driving with a lightened flywheel
I've heard that having a light weight flywheel essentially eliminates normal driveability (depending on how light the flywheel is compaired to stock) because the motor dies too easily.
Of those of you out there running light weight flywheels how is ride?

Whoever said that probably never had a lightweight flywheel. 7.5lbs here and it is very daily drivable.

What brands do you guys have?
I got it and the clutch installed for $350 @ a Honda dealer before I had my garage.
On my H I have an Aasco 8lb flywheel, no PS or AC and a straight intake with a battery relocation to the trunk. The throttle response and the revs are great.
Accords have such heavy cranks that they barely need much of a flywheel. However, you don't want to go too low, or else the engine may have problems with stalling out when driving over a hill. But that was a problem I had with a 924, not an Accord.
having a lighter flywheel also causes a very rough idle as the weight of the flywheel is not enough to help smooth out the engine firing.
it does have it's advantage though engine spools up quicker as there is less mass to move in the flywheel

What do you guys think of gettin the flywheel machined so its lighter? Ive heard people do it but im not sure how reliable it is so people seem to think it is while others believe it isnt.
Youd be better off with aluminum.
Youll never get to 10lbs by machining the stock one.
Mine is aluminum and ran it with the ACT extreme pressure plate/street disc and the turbo....no issues.

I'm starting to think about the possibility of machining my UR Flywheel to lighten another 2-3lbs, and re-balancing it. Wonder if I'd be taking it too far, though...
