Default Steering wheel Play

I have steering wheel play. Its pretty bad on the highway. Especially when i am turning the wheel clockwise (turning right)

what can it be?

- Steering gearbox (hoping its not cause thats a bitch and expensive part too)
- tie rod ends?
- Anything else?

Check the bolt underneath the 'H' sign right in the middle of the steering wheel. It could be as stupid as that.

If that's not it, it is either the rack and pinion (worst case) or the steering rods ball joints (not so bad).

If you don't know what I'm talking about, have it checked. Steering is an important issue. Don't try to save a buck there!

Start by checking the steering wheel bolt, then the steering ball joints. If they are fine, chances are it is the rack and pinion. That would suck, because it's expensive.

Sh-t dude it's sounds like a looose tie rod. If ya lose one more bolt you will have no control of your car. It's an easy fix. Just hoist the car and remove the existing anchor, find a matching one, replace the missing bolt and wrench em both down. It's located just on the oppisite side of your foot drivers foot pannel. And very easy to do.

not to worry you. but it sounds like the rack, i have went through one rack already, and now my 2nd one is starting to go. haha! and my steering wheel would have play in it too. also the alment is a little off. and when you shack you steering wheel back and forth you can hear a little knocking sound.

Jack the front of your car up.... Then hold the wheel and try and move it left to right, then up and down and feel for play.. Most likely its the tirerod ends as in the ball joints in the tie rod. Myne are fucked.. my wheels shakes about 4mm when i turn at 30mph or above.. i just checked my **** and its the tie rods.. gotta fix them soon.

if you want to see if it's your tie rods jack up your car and get your suspension to unload all the way. press in on the top of the tire and if the wheel/tire leans in you got some problems.

well i found out the problem. MY upper ball joints had play (picked up some used arms with good condition ball joints- looked like they were replaced) and my tie rod ends werent exactly tight (castle nut wasnt fully threaded in after i did my clutch job!!) after i put my new arms in im going to the alignment shop and going to get my gear box tightened to remove the rest of the play!
Thanks ALOT for all your help guys!! Honda-tech has the most helpful guys
