Just turbocharged my friends civic EX, muhahahaha
It was quite fun. My friend who owns slowboyracing.com meet a wholesale vender at the sema show who sells turbo kits. He liked what he saw and one thing led to another and my friend stepped up to the plate with his '00 civic EX to be the guinney pig. THings went really well, all the coolant and oil lines were supplied making our job easy. It took an average of 2 guys working for probably 6 hours of real work (not counting bullshitting) to get it done. Its just a small garret t-20turbo, non intercooled, and FMU. The next day when the sealant for the oil drail dried we got her running and were very pleased. SHe went into boost like butter thanks to the supplied voltage clamp box wired into the MAF. NO check valves here. It has just a slight bit of detonatin at 7 psi of boost, thats the lowest we can get it. A fuel pump is hopefully on the way, as I'm sure the stock pump is causing a lean condition when the FMU jacks the fuel pressure under boost. Even then, my sisters '90 civic dx detonates WAY worse on 89 octane pump gas than this thing does with 7 psi of boost and sunoco 94 octane.
THe power isn't out of this world, but its got some torque thanks to the quick spooling t-20 (may be getting rebuilt to t-28 specs someday!). It'll spin first no problem. Thoughts, suggestions, otherwise? I think he wants to sell these kits for $1300, which IMO is worth it for the manifold, turbo that can be rebuilt with a bigger compressor, and all the odds and ends fittings that add up.

NO, no pics sorry. THe charge piping is alumiumn and chrome plated (or maybe buffed?). IT was shiny, i'm not into looks. All the hoses are steel braided, very nice.
Isn't SlowBoyRacing a DSM vendor? Or at least I remember them catering to the DSM crowd more...neat turbos BTW.
But he drives a Civic? That's ironic...hehe

Yes Mike Huml of Slowboy has been catering to dsm's because thats what he's been racing for the past 4 or so years with his brother. However, he got into imports with a gsr back in the day. He does sell some honda parts, including these new turbo kits, just gotta call and let him know what you're looking for.
I went up friday night, slept over, and finished it saturday morning (at mikes house). It was a lot of fun and the car is running great. Its a nice little kit, i'm trying to talk one of my friends into it just to get him addicted to boost. What a great way to spend the weekend. Unfortunatley it seems we have killed the O2 sensor, probably the PB blaster we used on it. Were gonna put a new one in this weekend. Short of soldering in the MAP voltage clamp, and extending the O2 sensor harness the kit was absoutley bolt on, amazingly it was that complete.
EDIT: In case anyone was wondering the manifold didn't interfere with the a/c, ac condensor, or condensor cooling fan. Amazingly the car looks like it came from the factory with a turbo, its that clean. Factory turbo honda, yummy.

Hmm....

Whats wrong with that? IT keeps the ecu from getting pissed off by clamping the MAP voltage to a value consistent with 0 psi gauge pressure. The FMU takes over with fuel enrichment from their. Granted, not the BEST way to do things, but it is a way that is acceptable for this low power application. We have full intentions of modifying the fuel enrichment to take advange of bigger injectors, and opening them longer instead of relying on fuel pressure to do the trick. But for a little over a grand, what do you expect?

Maybe they dont like that you said MAF instead of MAP???

My bad, thats the DSM coming out in me.........
