Just a quickie.
I have a 1996 spec JDM ITR (registered first in 1997). I have been told all JDM ITRs up to end of 1997 run OBD1 ecu, but all run the OBD11 harness is this correct, as it seems a bit strange too me. Also I have read somewhere on this forum (have searched but to no avail) that because I have OBD1 I can run a test pipe and not throw a cel code due to OBD1?????
As i am on the subject what would I need to run hondata using my setup. Its stock at the mo but with possible future upgrades I would imagine I would need something like Hondata.
Any help would be good.
PS Laymans terms if possible.

I have a 1996 JDM ITR swap. I have the ECU that came w/ it. It has OBD2 plugs but runs an OBD1 program. So basically you can run it in an OBD1 car w/ an OBD1-OBD2 converter harness, and not throw any CEL's(2nd o2 sensor CEL).
I am using a chipped P28 and i have a testpipe.

sorry for hi-jacking this thread slightly, i have a JDM SiVTEC (GSR) with two O2 sensors, one on the collector and one on the cat, as my car is OBD1 does that mean that i can fit a testpipe without throwing a code? And if so what do i do with the O2 sensor, bung it into the testpipe or just remove it altogether?
96-99 JDM ITR ecu's are OBD1 programming, and OBD2A plug style
00-01 JDM ITR ecu's are OBD1 programming, and OBD2B plug style
I'm going to believe this, although the only thing I doubt, is that the 00-01 JDM ITR ecu's are OBD2B, they might have stayed OBD2A.
They're all the same programs though..

i was using a 00 CTR ECU on my 00 Si
the harness plugs are identical and pulg right in
i disconnected my 2nd O2 for a test pipe and never got a CEL
removed the EVAP system no CEL
car also doesn't need to be warmed up for VTEC to work
and there is no speed limiter like some people believe, i was able to hit 140 MPH and would have went faster, but it didn't like the way the car felt

nothing wrong with my ECU, works perfectly and still does
it does limit your reving if it;s cold but vtec still engages
it lowers the rev limiter to about 7800rpms instead of the normal 8650 rpms

You're crazy revving that high on a cold engine..

Thank you for your reply. So if you are correct I can just leave my 2nd o2 sesor flapping in the wind and I wont get a cell code
