from my limited knowledge, SI rack has a tighter turning radius, but will bolt up to your HF.

I think he has it backwards. I have always been under the impression that the HF was fewer turns lock to lock. I will try and verify that.

I second that, the HF rack is a quick-steer upgrade people have done. For you, going to the Si rack will increase your lock to lock and "slow" your steering.A friend of mine did it (88Si w/HF rack), I don't recall him mentioning any customization needed. The last time I was under the car, I only recall 4 bolts where the rack mounts to the rear cross-member. And from the cross-members I've seen in the bone yards, those mounting locations look the same between SI-HF-Std./DX.

wreckers usually ask 50-80 for one, rebuilt one at autozone is ~300.

well i'll be damned! i too need a new rack, guess i'll look for an HF model then. BTW get them at a wrecker, unless you are a perfectionist arsehole, like me.

ya I figure u need a pretty sturdey steering rack if your gonna run a set up with a good amount of HP! I got turbo and that thing seems like if i hooked up it would rip it apart!!lol...so it seems like there all interchangeable basicly but a different length in steering radius...

excellent, so would 4g civics work?
i couldnt figure out if an si rack would fit in a hf chassis lol
I believe a 4th gen civic hatch rack would work however keep in mind that the civic has power steering so you'd have to plug up the steering lines and then of course, the ratio would make it pretty damn hard to turn....ever drive a car without power steering working? IT SUCKS.
I've been in the market for a HF rack however I didn'ty have $ 2 weeks ago when there was one at the yard.

The power steering rack is the only "bastard" it is larger in diameter. So unless you want to add Power Steering then any 4G should fit with out modification. If you want power steering then when you take out the rack take the rear crossmember and the rack as a single unit. Be sure to do a string alignment before you move the car and then a professional alignment as soon as possible after that.

I forgot the website I got it from but I have the Hf & DX ratio listed as 3.9 turns lock-to-lock and the Si as 4.1 turns lock-to-lock for all years of the CRX. Don't know about mounting differences.
well it looks liek i dont need one. my castle nut on my tie rod end wasnt tight enough!! (stupid me- didnt tighten it al the way after i did my clutch job
)
i picked up some upper arms for $40 cdn however since both my upper ball joint s had play!
