Default a few questions about AT -> MT conversion

I have a 1994 Accord ex 4dr AT. Im getting ready to put an H23 motor and H23 MT tranny in my car. I was going to try and call junk yards to see if I could find the parts I need to make the MT switch, but I don't know all the parts I need...So here are my questions:

1) Should I get the MT parts from a junk yard or just buy them new (I don't have a lot of money)?
2) What parts do I need to ask for to make the AT->MT conversion?
3) Is it easy to install by yourself? or should a shop do it?

Thank you for your help. I know some about my car and preludes, but I'm still learning more and more. I'm very eagar to learn...so if you see a lot of questions from me on the boards that why..thanks again.

1. Junkyard.
2. http://www.extremeredline.net/accord/automanual.html
3. not as easy as it looks. You want it done professionally, you are not a mechanic, you don't know electricity too well, get it done by someone qualified for this. Trust me. I just did it. Nothing like the peace of mind of getting it done and the guy warranting his job.

How much did it end up costing you to do the conversion? Was it worth it?

About 1200$, but I guess different places, different deals. Also, I did not necessarily go with the cheapest, I was looking for a good quality job with a warranty that would cover adjustments. Yes, it was definately worth it. I would suggest you also go with a lightweight flywheel and a good clutch while you're at it.

I did a manual conversion myself for about $450 using junkyard parts. It would have been cheaper but I had to buy new linkages becuase the ones I got from the junkyard were frozen(cost me $250). It is not really complicated as long as you have some mechanical ability and good reference material. Was it worth it? Hell yes. It feels much better shifting yourself then letting the trans do it for you.

werd, i did mine about 5 months ago. cost about $800 in parts, but had to get them from several dif. places. Definitly worth it. IMO be sure to use a 92-96 lude shifter and cables, the throw is shorter than the accord. hopefully when i get the neuspeed SS adapter it will be a VERY short throw.
