are my 450cc dsm injectors sitting right? pic
I just installed my 450cc injectors into my '99 teg gs fuel rail. They don't seem to be sitting as deep into the manifold as the stock ones. The fuel rail is bolted all the way down. Is this injector sitting right?
Yeah, they are perfect. The body of the injectors is different than the strockers obviously, but the pintle is sitting the same depth into the manifold.
use a washer or some other form of spacer if you want the pintle to sit at the factory location, but do NOT tighten the rail down on like that! bore those o-rings out!
Well I've already tightened the fuel rail down on the injectors....has there been damage done?
Where would the washer be placed?
I was a little concerned about boring the o-ring out. How much do new ones cost? Just incase I need to remove the injectors and return to stock ones...will they still fit well if they're bored out?

I just installed mine this Saturday, the o-rings have a little line around the center hole that shows were you drummle out the ring to fit the 450's. Not hard to do, but you can by new rings at Autozone if you want. After they bored out they should just slide on the injectors will a pressure.

I had mine sit flush like stock ... if you feel SAFE with it like that then go ahead, but it seems like you're scared. Or else, you wouldn't have posted that.
Yeah Rioninja, I did hold them side by side and they're the same length....the larger middle section is longer on the stock's...so I think that the dsm's are sitting at the right level.
My worries have been eliminated...I like how they sit actually. And I just added the dsm clips, so they fit nicely...so it's all good.
Thanks

That first pic doesnt look right at all, I have installed tons of dsm injectors on civic/teg's They have always mounted nice and flush, but we have always grinded out the rubber o-ring grommet a bit for a better fit. I have seen people use the stock grommet, but omg, talk about a incredibly tight fit, its like a black man and a 14 year old asian girl.. LOL

With the injector sitting in that postion, the fuel will not atomize correctly, its sitting to high. Plus, I wouldnt be suprised if you had a vacuum leak..

Well, HXmans pictures look perfect. I really cant see the first one....
You definatly dont want them any lower than that, the pintle will sit lower than stock.

The grommet is what fits around the injector, that sits in the intake manifold. You can buy these seals at (www.zdyne.com) boost tight seals, but its a ripoff. The dremel method works just fine, just get a sand bit and start shaving little by little off, and keep test fitting until it fits snug on the injector.

Well if HXmans looks perfect. Then I guess mine are fine too. I think the only difference between my setup and his is that the gromet on his is sticking out of the manifold more than mine. Mine are set all the way in. So both of our injectors are sitting at the same place.

The pintles are already sitting at the factory depth the way he has it. If you press them any more into the manifold, the injector tips will protrude into the flow of air.

weird i put my injectors in by pulling out the rubber ring on the bottom and putting it into the manifold, aand it looked like the 2nd pic, but when i put the rubber partially into manifold and then put injector on and tightened it down it looked like the first pic with the gap...but i looked at both and they both look like they are sitting at the same depth.... i'm gonna do a side by side pic and post it
Abaz and Rioninja have conflicting opinions...hmm...whos correct here? I personally have washer on mine...no problems...but I do wonder sometimes
