wha are some good techniques for doing a successful burnout in my gsr?? and also some good launching off the line tips?...thanx...no b.s. or shiet talkin needed
Everyones got different techniques. For me I just do a guick burnout, and launching I just hold it at 6500 and dump the clutch.
need info.

If all is stock no burn out just a chirp to clean the rubber. launch around 2500 -3000 you need some wheel spin for momentum. you should hook up by vtec. 2.2 60 ft is good with about 18 lbs. just experiment and have fun.

do not just dump the clutch, if your rpm's are too low, you car will die, it rpm's are too high, you will do a big burnout. i usuallykeep rpms at about 4500. then let out the clutch, not dumping it. and don't floor it yet. feather the clutch, but keep the rpm's at 4500.(or whatever rpm's your car does better at) once you have the clutch all the way out, then floor it. it sounds like a lot, but its not,all this should only take a like 1/8 of a second. when you look at the pros, their clutchs slip for like halfof the way down the track, as the speed increases, additinal fingers press the clutch and slowly clap the clutch down 100%. if start off the line at 100%, you will burn the tires way too much. I have a 92 civic with gsr and a bunch of mods, and even after i do all this, and let clutch out it will still spin, but a little spinis what you want.i can take out awd eclipses the way i jump off the line. I hope this helps.
i have been doing 2nd gear burn outs on 20x6x14 slicks, i still slip the clutch from the line from about 5500-6000, tomorow i will be runing some 24.5x8x13's wich will make me change everything i do, i will prob do 1st gear burnout and i will use the 2step to launch but still slip the clutch...... my cars #'s are in my sig if anyone is wondreing
well....my car has a vafc...when im staged i rev up to 5 grand...im in a prelude vtec....i can hear the cam switch to the high cam, so im effectively launching the car stright in vtec....i slip the clutch as the tires grip, once theyve gotten traction, i slip the clutch all the way out and floor the gas....i run consistent 2.2s and 2.1s on ordinary street tires....with an open diff as well, this technique is great but will wear down on your clutch...also ive noticed that people with aftermarket clutches have more trouble with this technique, as thier is a much smaller window for feathering a high grip clutch PP combo...i personally think a stock clutch is perfect as long as your not exceeding like 240whp...i believe the stock clutch can hold 240whp....hope this helps somewhat..peace

yeah. I have a 6 puck clutch, and there isn't any room for error. I can't rev my car that high when i launch, my clutch grabs to hard, and i will do a big burnout.
But I have a question, when you rev you car, just standing still, are you supposed to hear vtec? i was told it doesn't kick in if you just rev it. and i have never heard vtec when in just revving my car. people with those vtec lights say the light doesn't come on unless your driving. i heard you have to be going to certain mph before it kicks in. is this right?

Well, normal VTEC won't engage under 35 mph, but if he has it rigged I dunno... VTEC depends on 5 things. and if anyone of those are not met then it won't engage (normally) the finve things are Coolant Temp , RPM, Throttle Position, Oil Pressure, and lastlly 35 MPH... Hpe this helps.

VTEC comes on under load.
Launching your car from a standstill provides lots of load to overcome.
I launch at 6-7000 rpm on drag radials....I launch and am in VTEC from the get go...as long as your motor is up to operating temp it should launch in VTEC as soon as you dump the clutch and experience load.
Of course if you bog VTEC will come on halfway through first which means your going wayy too slow.
I skip the waterbox with my drag radials put it in reverse till the fronts get close and then rev to 6K dump the clutch and spin them for a little bit to the line. Warms them up nice and they arent dripping with water at the line. Dry burn works best with drag radials. 2.0' 60's on a weak clutch

when i shift into second and third, i still shift fast, but i don't powershift. letclutch out all the way, then go. doesn't take any time, itsactually faster, becasueitgrabs and goes instead of burning the tires.
