Are ITR motors really worth the money?($4300-$5000)
I had a chance at getting a 2001 itr motor complete swap w/ 20k miles for $4300. Do ya think it was a good deal? Or was it my lost? Is it really worth all that money?
I myself think that the money they get for the ITR motors is not worth it. But, you are also getting 200 hp from a stock motor. If you buy a gsr , you may have to spend enough money on it to make it as potent as the R motor, but then the costs are similar. I think for the money, a b16a1 swap with lsd is the best bang for the buck, but the GSR will always have a special place in my heart.
If that was a LEGIT motor, IMO you passed up a GREAT deal.. $4300 for a low mileage 20001 ITR complete swap is sweet. A legit low mileage ITR swap from a 2000-2001 can go from $5k-$5800.. I was given a price of $5800 shipped for a 2000 USDM B18C5 with 16k miles. This is a legit swap from a very reputable company.. If I were you I'd jump all over that deal..
No. You can easily buy a b16, have it overbored, high compression pistons, and valve springs for under $4300. It would be a type AARRRR killer!
ITR motors r great and all but i think of it this way. do u want a stock motor or will u rebuild it later??? if u want a stock motor its a good buy, if ur goin to build ur motor later, its a waste of money.

Okay well its really not a waste of money if you plan on doing what I am. I dont want anything to crazy in my car. I want to keep the stock reliability and still be able to do a few things to it. I dont feel that i wasted my money one bit.
yep, you blew it.
If ur motor is Legit yes its a good deal. (Assuming everything is working).
Hell no! at least in other countries. .... but its law of supply and demand. If you go to Asian countries, B-series are worth between $800-1200. (think about it, its majority of it are coming from junk shops) now factor in shipping of a few hundred bucks, you can just imagine how much the profits are.
Is it really worth all that money?
sniff sniff...but its cool. I got a deal for a gsr complete w/ 40K miles for only $2300
I'll just use the other half of the money for a new clutch/wires/etc.
