if its the stock motor the 7k redline won't matter, but one of those chips will do it for you

They are all the exact copies of binary images, there shouldn't be many different binaries because I dont believe anyone has figured out how to decompile and recompile them correctly. I remember there was a team of people working on it for the PM6 but I dont know how far they currently are.

99% of the ebay chips are really bad knock offs of the real thing. see zydne's shpeel about it.

There is a board dedicated to ECU tuning. They have decompiled, decoded, and recompiled the 90/91 PM6. You can even download/upload different ROM dumps if you want to play with chipping your own ECU's. Fairly easy concept... just compare stock binary to a mugen proggy. Anyway, a lot of variants are out there now too where you can pick you rev limit and such.

It's the 88/89 PM6 that is a beaaatch. It operates the 88/91 A6 just the same, but chipping it is proving to be not easy. Although the A6 runs identical, the chips and circuits inside are different between the different year ECU's.

Check it out... http://pgmfi.crx-forum.org/phorum/

most of the programs out there are the same as only very few people know how to modify the code.......replacing the chip itself isnt very hard

from what I know in the past.. the pm6 88-89 was not modifiable. any ECU modif. was done on the 90-91 pm6.
and the most you can really do is increase the rev limiter.
another option is the 90-91 LS ECU..

as far as I know from talking w/fellow honda owners locally, teh ebay chips work-they essentialy just dump a bunch of fuel in the maps & take off the rev limiter. I'm about to order one b/c my a6 dies last tues, we have fixed it for the most part (it should hold until I can order a b16 at the end of the month & then time to build), but the a6 is knockling real bad from being lean, so I figure that chip may help the knocking by running richer- we'll see I guess.
