Problem with my 96 Honda Integra Type R gear box..need advise
Hi there,
I'm new here. The name is Davy. I have a problem with my Tegra DC2R gears. It is very tough to shift gear. It could be the LSD or something. but sometimes before I drive it won't even get into first gear and then I restart the engine then it gets in. Also sometimes during high speed it gets stuck from 2nd to 3rd or from 4th to 5th. It's a pain in the bum!
It also makes some sound sometimes and I have to leterally slam the gears to shift.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks...DYWLK

Check the slave cyl. Make sure the clutch fluid is bleed properly. How many miles on the clutch??? Also check tranny fluid.
When was the last time you changed the transmission fluid? Change the fluid see if there any metal in the fluid. That will tell you if the gears and syncos are still good or if their teeths are gone. Also it could be you shift linkage bushings sometimes when you shift the bushing deform do to old age or it is just too soft. I would first change the fluid and see if it solves the problem(Honda Tranny fluid is the best). Then if it doesn't work then check out the shift rods and bushings. Change them if there is any damage. If that still doesn't solve the problem then the only thing left is to open the tranny and see if there is anything wrong. I would do the fluid and bushings first becuase they are cheaper then having to drop a tranny.
FIRST - have your clutch checked, and the fluid.
If not that, go get yourself some GM synchromesh tranny fluid from a chevy dealer. Ditch the honda MTF.
Don't do anything to your tranny untill you try this stuff. It's pretty amazing if you ask me.

I noticed that my clutch lub compartment is not very clean. It has some stuff floating in side. I will try replacing the tranny oil first though. Does it have to be a special tranny oil? Anyone heard of redline tranny oil? They say its really good for the Honda VTECs B18C.
