how much torque do i need for 91 accord head bolts?
i am ready to replace my head gasket, but am not quite sure on how much torque is required for each head bolt...please let me know where i can find this information please...
on the 1990-93 accords, tighten the bolts to 29 ft lbs (40 nm) on the first pass 51 ft lbs (70 nm) on the second then tighten them to thier final torque, 72 ft lbs (100 nm)
make sure to tighten in sequence
make sure to tighten in sequence
thanks for the help Ratherbewalking, and what exactly do you mean by 1st , 2nd, and final pass? is it when i run the engine for a couple of minutes? thanks again!
noooo, you do your first pass on all the bolts, at a certian tq, then a second, then a third. make sure and use new oil on the bolts when you thread them in
Just in case...make sure you get out any oil and crap in the holes. any fluid in them and the bolts wont torque down correctly. use q-tips taped to a stick or something. be sure to follow ratherbewalking's steps or you may warp the head. good luck.
