individual throttle body question
recently i've been seeing a lot of cars going with the individual throttle body set up and i kinda want to get one myself but im not sure what are the power gains on one of those .
and how do you keep **** from getting sucked up cuz most of the ones i see dont realy have any filters on them.
one more question i have jun stage 3 head package how well would that set up work with individual throttle body.

I always wondered about engine reliability with ITB especially since I found out that production cars run them such as the new M3.

everything is designed with those in mind.
they built an airbox around them and everything.
with the honda you are putting something there that wasnt meant to be there

This is a pic I found of a mildly modified M3 motor. You can see how an airbox can be designed to fit an ITB setup. ITB's mean nothing as far as reliability is concerned. The reason for using them as far as I know is they allow the exact same fuel and air to each cylinder and provide instant throttle response and the least amount of restriction because of how close the throttle plate is to the intake valves.
Some people use ITB on Honda motors and don't put filters on because they are probably too lazy or it is just a race motor and dust doesn't matter much when you are talking about rebuilding the motor every other week. I wish I could find a pic but you can easily get filters for ITB's that would work with a 4cylinder front drive setup. It's just a foam filter that covers all the intake snorkels.
This all being personal knowledge and is up for debate of course

i have a skunk2 intake manifold on the car now and im doing a bunch of work to the car over the winter. i just figured i would do something diffrent but im not sure if im going to go with that set up since it's gonna be my daily driver.i know of a couple ppl going with the ITB but their cars are stricktly for the track use only. i know when DRT had their car in the TURBO magazine{december2002 issue}they had to use special head porting technique to get the most power out of the use of the ITB. i was actualy thinking of sending my head to jun and i know that they dont use the ITB so i was just wondering how the two would go together.im not sure about sending my heads to jun if you guys know of a good shop in the chicago land area that does good head porting let me know .THANKS
Places do make filters for ITB setups.
www.itgairfilters.com and I know I have seen other adds for custom filters

ITBs are not practical... Very high maintenance. Tunning them and getting them sync is another story. A good EMS and long tunning sessions are required. Once everything is done right, its a really fun experience. Also, the reliability of the motor goes down because they are design to rev high. Constant maintenance is required. To me if you dont drive your car daily and you don't mind spending some money go for it. I've seen alot of people buying a set and end up selling them right away and I've seen people who love them and would never go back to a normal intake manifold type setup. Big cams, high compression, good fuel, good EMS and proper tunning is the key!
that **** is not fitting on a honda. basically i think itb's are for a weekend car or a car that you dont drive daily, meaning like 100 miles a day or so. but i dont have them so i cant say, i just think too much is involved to make it worth it for a daily driven/used car.
Eric Lawson had one(filter/cover) on his yellow hatch for awhile, I think he ended up giving to Ralphie at drt.
i dont think that will fit on a honda.
actually, im 99.999999% sure of it

wait.. maybe not

maybe if you remove the master cylinder

You can buy covers for them here in the UK.... ITBs should be the last mod you do when you run out of all other options. Set them up with full valvetrain, stage 3s and a Motec ECU and go for the big numbers like the Prime DC2
