Default Steps to painting intercooler piping?

i did a search already and I remember seeing some posts on it, could someone link me somewhere or tell me some steps on painting jcwhitney pipes. Thanks

Make sure you clean them well. If there is any oil residue on them, the paint wont stick.

I just cleaned thoroughly and painted. Probably will be a lot more prone to scratching but worked fine for me.

You might want to look into having it powder coated. I was quoted by a local company 50.00 for all the pipes, which i dont consider that bad. Especially when powder coating is fairly scratch resistent. No work on your part either to get it power coated.

i hate to sand?.. i think i remember seeing someone spraying on like textured black.. can i just clean it really good then spray it on with high temp.

thats exactly what i did, prob wont last as long but who really cares...it looks fine to me and definately alot better than rusted steel. I used simple green and some steel wool. HTH

I just sanded my pipes with like 400 grit paper, not real thorough, just enough to rough it up a bit and cleaned them with brake cleaner. Then I sprayed them with 2 coats of heat black paint.......no problems.
