Default d16a6

I have a d16a6 in my 89 civic hatchback. The problem is, is that the engine will not redline...it gets to about 5500, then sputters, and each gear the RPM gets lower and lower. And when my engine is cold it will only go to 4,000 and then to 3,000 for the othr gears! I changed spark plugs, fuel filter, and i have the right ECU. What else could it be????? SOmeone help me out!!!!

My d16a6 redlines at 7300rpm according to my VAFC peak hold display. 6800 when its not fully warmed..lower if colder.

Do you have a working thermostat in your car? It sounds like the cold rev limiter. What does your temperature guage say?

check the block for the d16a6 stamp. and if your positive its the d16a6 make sure your ECU isn't for a HF

dont trust him too much...
engine codes are not on the tranny,.. it son the block close to the head and next to the tranny...
on the tranny its the tranny code and serial number, right on front....

u are not redlining,.. redlining makes a weird noise and jerks since it cuts the spark and fuel... seems u dont get enough fuel.. check that the feul pump its giving u enough fuel pressure.... check FPR.. i dont think its a ignition advance isuue... if not the car will not accelerate good at all.. the idle should change if u disconect the vacum line....either that or u got a bad ecu... try checking with another known good ecu....

sounds like air to fuel mixture is fucked... so yeah it could be your fuel pump... i would just take it to a certified mech.
