Was going to do a mini me, but if the intake and exaust manifold are the same than what is the point, so is it worth turboing??? and could i use a ex turbo kit?
The intake and exhaust manifold on the d16y7 are not the same. The d16y8 intake manifold is a very good upgrade for the y7, i have it on my y7.
You can use an EX kit just fine, but if you retain your y7 intake manifold you have to get a custom charge pipe. Also, the Down pipe is not going to match up w/ your exhuast. if you have a coupe, simply just buy an EX exhaust and cat and it fits perfect. If you have a hatch, just get custom piping.

Actually, the downpipe should still bolt up. You just won't have a cat anymore

Thanks, I thought I was the only one who wanted to turbo a Non vtec, guess I was wrong, I saw your setup and it looks pretty nice, I'm looking into the new Edelbrock turbo kit thats coming out this spring, I can't wait to boost this little banger, should be fun but thanks for the info.
D16Y7 worth turboing, YES!

Those dynos were on the old turbo....considering a whole new motor is like $700, how can you go wrong? Ours has been running for like a year with no problems (unless you consider no traction a problem)......

Was your setup with stock internals??? because im planning on 9psi, with new pistons rods, valve train, and possibly sleeves, and with good tuning, I should be looking at some good power, Don't know if i should sleeve it since it only has 27K on the engine...... ??
dang yourupgrading all thatfor just 9psi??may as well sleeve it, upgrade a few more things and run crazy boost..i'm gonna run 9 on my stock and it should be fine

Well, The more internals the more power I can get out of the engine, and the less chance of me bein stupid and blowin my engine up

Anybody running a sohc turbo setup, that feel like lettin me in on some good internals? cams?? what is the cheapest and best mod for internals? before turbo
How many D series have you blown or known to have been blown from running too much boost, without having any other problems?
Give me a break, the crappiest motor Honda makes doesn't put out 230hp and 200ft lbs with a freakin 14b at anything less than 15 IMO, and I still think there'd have to be something else going on there.
If it was that easy to make decent power with a D167Y, don't you think more people would do it? I had a pretty nice setup with a T3/T04E and put down 206/184 at 9 PSI...

thats a damn good #for a Y7..was it a stock y7, complete??or did you use y8 head and manifold ect??thats a # usually people do with around 9-10psi on y8's..lets just wait till the guy posts so we can know how much boost he was using
Those dynos were at about 13-14 lbs on the 14B turbo, 450cc injectors, VAFC hack, etc.....
Motor was completely absolutely bone stock Y7 and has stayed that way.....now it's got a 16G running around 12lbs and doing just great.....
If it ever blows up, we'll probably switch over to a Y8, but it shows no signs of wanting to blow up yet
Gottuh love the cheap D series motors!
Hopefully new dynos will be up eventually with the 16G at 12lbs or so....
