Default Need help diagnosing a sound....

Its a knock. But its not a motor knock. The knock only happens when i am moving, in or out of gear. It sounds like its coming from teh middle of the car. Its either a knock or a clicking type noise. Kidna sounds like maybe a CV joint? I dont know though. Its very wierd, it happened all of a sudden, i had a busted coolant hose on the intake manifold, fixed it, started driving it, and the noise started. So...

When the car is just sitting, it dont make any noise, rev it to 4500 its good, drive it to 4500 and it makes the noise. Whats the most POSSIBLE cause of this?

like a medal clacking. I really am lost other than CV joint or wheel bearing, maybe heat shield, but those are like the only 3 tghings i can think of that would happen while its moving and no other times, y ou know.

i had a similar noise in my car but it would go away when i applied any pressure to the brakes. i am pretty sure that it is an axle noise. hopefully i will have my car back on the road soon so i can find out if that was my problem.

Does it only happen on Acceleration, or are there any times when it goes away? More info needed before I can help you...

check bushings in your lower control arms, motor mounts, if it was a cv joint you would hear it much more when turning one way or the other, maybe your cat is bad? its hard to go by a written description. if your timing is too far off you will get a tick under heavy accelleration..good luck

Check your rear motor mount. I will bet the big bolt is missing.

Well I am gonan look at everything tomorrow, and the only reason i dont think its a motor mount is it would do it just sitting there also, reving it up. It only does it when the car is moving. I mean could it be wheel bearing? Cause i mean it makes it loud, then it goes away once its stopped. Its a loud noise and it does sound like a motor mount, but its just not logical to me, right now anyway. I mean it could be, ive seen weirder ****, haha.

Description of sound, sounds like something is knocking against something else under the hood(whcih sounds like a motor mount problem to me), just dont see why it wouldnt do it while its just sitting there reving up. and only when the car is moving..

Go through and look at all you suspension components: Ball Joints, Control Arms, Tie Rods, Etc. Also check and see if the rotors are on tight and make sure your lugs are on tight also. I had a knocking noise coming from my car once and found out that one of those rotor screws wasnt on tight!
