Default Power loss with factory cat?

Here's the situation: Internally stock B16A with "standard" bolt-ons (I/H/E), and JDM ITR header waiting to go on. Planning some internal hybrid work later on. Is it worthwile welding a 2.5" inlet flange to my factory cat? Or should I invest in a high flow cat? If so, what brands do you recommend? Which ones to avoid? Would like to stay OBD2 (no conversions/test pipes). Thanks in advance for your help.
