Default Mixing tranny fluid - GM SM/Honda MTF

I don't know much about tranny oils, but I know there's alot of people who use GM synchromesh in their Honda transmissions. I've always been a believer that Honda MTF is the best for our tranmissions, but I'm wondering what it would be like if I mixed in a small amount of this GM synchromesh fluid..

1/3 GM synchromesh
2/3 Honda MTF

I have a slight notchiness in my ITR tranny shifting to third, I was thinking maybe I should experiment with something like this and see if I can find improvement. What do you guys think?

Does anyone know if these fluids are even mixable?

Please don't give me **** for this idea.. I'm just thinking out loud..

I wouldn't do it personally.

Unless you know the exact ingredients of each MTF, it's not safe to mix them. They could mix, but they could also emulsify. Stick with one of the other.

Have you changed your MTF lately with fresh Honda fluid? Perhaps that alone will take care of the problem.

Yep.. it's brand new fluid.

Anyways, I did it already. 1 quart GM, 1 quart Honda MTF (the stuff I already had in there)..

Holy ****! That's my reaction.. The notch is gone, and each gear feels VERY smooth.

I've been driving it around town and ****, and it feels MUCH MUCH better! The last times I have just changed to new honda fluid, it didn't do jack.

I don't know any specifics about either of the fluids, except that GM SM is partially synthetic. I don't think this could possibly produce bad results with mixing these two.. but yeah, I'm not 100% sure. I'm going to keep it in though, and if something goes terribly wrong - then I'll get a new tranny. So far I really like it and I'll recommend doing it.. the shifting feels like a brand new tranny.

I've run a half/half mix as well. Actually I kinda am right now... as I assembled the tranny with GMSM.

You're using the same thing I am? Half GM half HMTF?

Are you liking it?

Out of curiosity, why not go with 100% GM SM?

yeah next time I change tranny fluid.. it'll be 100% GM. It's just so damn expensive. 15$ for one quart at the chevy dealer I went to..
