MPFI swap, won't start
Got spark, may not have fuel but sputters when cranking.
Only identifiable problem is the ECU doesn't blink when I turn the car on. I think that is bad.

i was under the impression that the ecu was supposed to have one long blink when the key is turned to the on position. make sure you're getting power to the ecu and fuse box
i dont know much about the mpfi swaps, but good luck

If you ahve not messed with your timing belt then just swapping out a distributor will not mess up your timing bad enough for it not to run My car will start under the full range of distributor rotation. I would check your wiring if the ECU is not blinking one time when you turn the key. Also use a known-good ecu cause it may even be a bad ecu.
