B16B block = B18C1 block. Just the rotating assembly is different. If you plan on replacing the rods & pistons anyway, I'd go for the B16B and find a cheap B18C crank. You can always sell the B16B crank to some JDM freak.

No contest...
Unless the B18 is a rediculous price. How much are they asking?

What the hell is that about?

I agree B18C1 > B16B, but to say that the B18C1 is the best Honda motor is a bit naive.

I've owned both and the B18C5 is definately better than the B18C1, but damn the price is different too.

Still, I'd go with the B16B swap, here's why:

1. LSD tranny
2. CTR cams
3. Higher rate valve springs, yada yada yada
4. Same block as the B18C1

All you'd need in order to conver your B18B effectively into a B18C-R is a B18C crank and rods. You can find those pretty cheap -- much less than the cost of adding items #1-3 to your B18C1.

I'd get the B16B and save for a 1.8 block.

B16B head is an almost perfect design, IMO.

Finding random parts might be more of a challenge than c1. I guess almost all parts with usdm are interchangable...

... I don't know, I would probably go c1 because tq is a little better...

b16b is destroked b18c. b18c1 has more opportunities and leaves u at an option of going FI or NA. b16b forces u to only go NA unless u want to spend EXTRA money on lowering the compression.
