What do I have to do my B16A in order to make it equal to a B16B?
What do I have to do my B16A in order to make it equal to a B16B? OEM wise Im talking, I know the IM and header flow better on the B16B, also CTR Cams, but what is my engine missing from the B16B?
don't forget CTR pistons. Then there's the valvesprings and retainers so you can rev higher. The tranny I think is the same except for the lsd and the CTR has dual synchros in the higher gears.
lsd. I love mine. I highly recommend one. And while you're in there if you want super short gearing (which the b16a could use) you could put a JDM 4.785 final drive in. there's probably some more stuff but I'm not sure.

The B16B is a de-stroked B18c block. So to answer your question you can't really truly turn a b16a into a b16b.

um , get a 1.8 block and destroke it

Whoa, there is no need for the hammer head, its a simple question, not everyone is a certified Honda mechanic as I'm sure you are.
you didnt know , I did.

best way to make a B16 fast is take it out and put a 1.8 in....

Nah, i think b18c (JDM GSR) could beat it, not a regular b18c1.
please tell me what the difference is in the US/JDM engine.
does the torque of the 1.8 really make that big a difference?
and the 2.0 liter makes even more of a difference.
1.6 Honda motor is a waste of time to build up.

Do you think I would be about 185 crank HP?

higher compression in the JDM b18c (SirG) vs USDM b18c1. 180hp vs 170hp.
I know the answer , I was asking him.

who gives a rats *** about that ?
take B16 and make it a paperweight , buy LS bottom end , throw VTEC head on and roll.
why is this such a tough concept ?
No way would you be at 185. It takes a lot more than that. What B16A do you have? i assume it's USDM which has lower compression. You need to put some higher compression pistons.
I've got all that and higher compression and I'm almost positive that I won't be at 185.

Well the 10.6:1 CR JDM 180hp GS-R motor would certainly romp a B16B.
The B16B is a killer motor from an engineering standpoint, but that more torquey and only 5 less crank hp'd B18C motor would still be quicker and it costs much less too.
USDM GS-R motor? I still think I'd take that over a B16b too when considering price.

I do however disagree with Doctor Cortez.
I'd choose a GS-r bottom end over an LS any day.
LS bottoms ends have a worse r/s ratio, and if I'm building a motor that revs to and over 8500rpm I won't do it with a bottom end that was never meant for above 7500rpm.
Others will disagree, but that's just my opinion based on how I'd use the motor.

its all about the LS motor
If going all-motor though, ditch the LS tranny.
