Default tJust intalled new cams. Help!

Just installed my new Skunk Stage 1 cams in my ITR. Install went pretty smooth. I got the timing belt lined back up on the cam gears correctly. Performed a valve adjustment and everything was good to go. Car cranked right up and idled fine, but it is ticking REALLY bad. I cut my cam covers and I'm sure it makes it a little louder but I doubt this much louder. It is also not taking the gas well under full throttle. Seems to be bogging bad but I'm sure this will be fixed on the dyno. Here are my questions.

1. I had to drive my car today. Apparently the valves are loose and need a readjustment. Will I hurt anything driving it for a short time until I can get it fixed? How afraid to I have to be of wiping a lobe?

2. Since it isn't taking the gas well is my timing retarded or advanced to much (even though the gears are at 0,0)?

I installed the same cams in my ITR last week. Dont worry about it bogging or not wantin to accelerate. Mine did the same thing. i have the cam gears zeroed out as well. I dont know what my ignition timing is at but it can't be that far off. I am getting on they dyno tonight. yeah i would re-adjust the valves if they are ticking. Don't risk it. Better safe than sorry. Did you do the first valve adjustment yourself?

edit: going to the dyno tonight to tune away

heh...

are you sure you used the right pointer mark on the crank pulley to reference TDC?

I didnt the first time I installed cams and I had the same symptoms as you.

better bust out a double check and check your info as well.

Yeah I used the white timing mark seperate from the other three used to adjust iginition timing. I also rotated the crank to obtain TDC for each cylinder during the valve adjustment.
