the tools involved in a d series swap to a b series
Make sure that you have a good, quality tool set. 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets and sockets, especially 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm. Also a 32mm socket for the axle nuts with a good size breaker bar and possibly a long pipe to use as an extension. You'll probably also need pliers, screwdrivers, a pry bar, and just in case a hammer. Gear wrenchs also come in very handy.

prybar or big *** screw driver
small screwdrivers and large ones (phillips, flathead)
Metric sockets (8-19 mm + 32mm for spindle nut)
extensions
jack, jackstands, engine lift, hoist chain
pliers
pin punch (for shift linkage - you NEED one, or make your own)
and rubber gloves help

Sometimes the shift linkage pin is really hard to get out while the motor/tranny is in the car, even with the proper punch. You can take the motor/tranny out with that shift linkage bar still attached. Just have someone to guide it out as you lift with the hoist so it doesn't bang into or get caught on anything.

is the "pin punch" a common item?? basically can I goto an auto store and buy one off the shelf?? Thanks.
Yeah, an automotive store (or sears) should have pin punches. Don't need a super special one.. I'd just buy a cheapo set to keep around.. probably find it for about 10$..

so a hammer and a ball joint seperator is the only thing not pictured?? wow i thuoght there would be more to it, and i know a cherry picker too.
Has anyone mentioned a prybar? helps..especially on the axles. Plus youl need to fill the tranny with oil, so a funnel with a hose out the end will help. Also, get some plastic bags, tape and a marker so theres no lost bolts. and to mark the vacume lines and wires!!

haha beers and motor swaps don't go together too well. After a couple of cases everyone just wants to sit around and do nothing
