Default 91CRX engine swap

I'm getting a 91 CRX and wanted to know what will swap best. I did a search but nothing but pre 88 CRX's came up. I was thinking b16a, the 99 si motor. Either that or maybe a gsr. Which will fit the best. Si is cheaper and i've been told a better fit. Is it a direct bolt in, or will i have to do some work. thanks guys.

the most common swap is the b16. I guess because of price and power. But it really all depends on what you are trying to accomplish, are you going FI or NA. I myself plan on going with a GSR B18c1.

there is nothing better than having a car that they know is slow, but isnt

if you use the 99 si motor the engine code is b16a2, the transmision in your crx is cable , the one in 99 si is hydralic, so you would have to convert over, another thing is that your computer is obd1 , 99 si od2, so its another thing you will have to change. your best bet is to get a b16a1 from japan . you will have to change axles ,shift linkage, and get aftermarket motor mounts, research and find out everything b4 you decide what to do. there is alot more than just taking out the old motor and puttin another in

Go with the first gen B16. It's one of the easiest swaps you can do. Bolts right in with Hasport mounts and shift linkage. Expect to spend 2000-2500 to do it correctly.

use a PR3 or PW0 both are OBD0 ECUs and just have to add wires for the 2nd O2 sensor, knock sensor, oil pressure switch, and Vtec solenoid. That is only for the SI/HF which are both MPFI now if you have a DX/STD DPFI you need to rewire for MPFI also. Get a B series cable tranny B18, B17, or B16. The only B18 tranny is from 90-93 Tegs, B17 is from the rare 92-93 Teg GS-R and fro the B16 you can use a 89-91 Civic/CR-X SI-R or 90-91 Teg XSI. All bolt directly to the engine. You need to have a motor mount kit and shift linkage unless you can/trust some one else to cut and paste new mounts for you. Need 90-93 Teg axles. All electronics used are odb0.
