Default Thanks for suggestions/comments regarding CBR900RR rectifier problem!

Thanks very much for some suggestions regarding my CBR900's R&R problem which I posted a couple of days ago. This time, my mechanic managed to pin it down to faulty stator motor that appeared to be working OK at low rev (around 2000rpm) but failed to churn out enough electricity for charging the battery at higher rev. This made the battery to be badly drained at high rev with all the lights on. Now to get a new replacement gonna be costly! Some suggested to try rewinding the coils (presumably done by somebody well-experienced in it!) and check out whether the output is reasonable within the factory setting. Is this practice advisable? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

If you have a local cycle salvage yard, you might check into the cost of buying a salvage stator from them. Remeber to haggle.

I don't know about rewinding the stator. I would guess, assuming the coils stayed where they were supposed to, the worst that would happen is your generator goes down, and you have to push the bike home.
