Default HID-OEM or Aftermarket?

Hey guys. There is always a lot of talk about HID's and I am finally thinking of getting some. Right now I have 96spec JDM ITR headlights on my car. I want to get HID's now. Should I get a set of used 98spec HID headlights or just get the Visualdyanics kit for my headlights I have now? I really don’t want to get rid of my headlights I have now, I got them new and are in mint condition. I don’t want to get a used set that is scratched up. Are the stock OEM HID headlights a lot better?

So what I am really asking is should I go OEM or aftermarket HID?

The OEM 98 spec R headlight housings are actually superior. You'll have a great beam cut off and nice spread of the lights. If you stick an aftermarket kit into your 96 Spec headlight housing's, you'll have hot spots and the light won't be as evenly spread. Still superior to halogen nonetheless, and will be a great improvement in night driving.

If you can afford it, get the 98 spec R HID headlights with the ballast already connected to the headlight. If your budget owns you, get a aftermarket kit. You can't go wrong either way.

What do used OEM HID headlights usually go for?
How much can I get for my non-HID headlights?

If I only have to pay $500 for the balance I will probably just go OEM instead of aftermarket. Condsidering that kits are in the 400-500 range.
