Civic Si VS. S13
I have a 99 civic si with a built motor and a few turbo parts waiting to go on it. I just need about $1500-$2000 more dollars to have it tuned and completed. But the thing is im in college and there are a few guys running around with S13's and with exhuast, FMIC, and 10psi are making 205+whp. I was told you can make 400 whp with stock headgasket on a s13 and if i sell all my turbo stuff for my Civic except the reusable parts like gauges, boost controller, etc. then i could possably get a nice 240 and drop a s13 in it and have some fun on the weekends and then have a civic Si to cruise to school and work in.
Now i know this a honda board but this is just an idea and if do go with the 240 then i can sell some stuff to you guys if you are interested, plus I was wondering do you guys know of a good 240sx forum like this?
Thanks to all for helping me in this decision.
and im out,
Josh

Go to clutorrtechracing.com click members and look for damians civic si. Thats my old car. I parted it out made a few bucks more and sold it for a grand over payoff. I then go a 92 nissan 240sx with a blown motor for 500bones. Sr20 is in the mail. I go to the point that i wwas making great power with the civic but i had no traction. So i needed slicks and a lsd. My boy the week before grenaded his tranny when the diff blew apart of a 50shot of nos. He now needs a complete tranny. So i was gonna need slicks, diff and alxes to keep it all together. I just was tired of spending the money on a car that i had a monthly payment for. so i sold it My insurance went from 50bucks a month to 14bucks, and i hve no car payment. Pluss the nissan actually feels like a sports car inside, where the civic felt like an economy car with a ton of power. I made 259hp and 180tq, the sr20det is 210hp and 200tq stock. Gotta love the extra torque. But i still work on hondas and i love them. Great cars im just not into it anymore, pluss the whole hondata and all the extra stuff just to run a turbo was to much cash. I prefer an engine that was made for turbo. If i was gonna do a honda it would be a crx or a 92 style hatch. I would not mess with a nice car like a 99-2000 si again. Pluss the b16 is a waist of time in a car that heavy. I would go b20.

I'm doing a 93 hatch with a C5 motor and low boost. This will be my daily driver. My project I want ot start is a sil-eighty. That will be the stupid car.
http://www.freshalloy.com go to forums...advanced s13/s14
get the 240, you'll love the engine and the capabilities...not to mention the rwd. plus you'll get good gas mileage with the civic as your daily.

There's a guy that goes to my school with an old 240sx with an SR20DET and a T3/T04 turbo, standalone, 3" exhaust, no muffler, and I'm not sure what else. He said he weighed his car and it came out to just over 3000lbs without him in it. A Civic weighs about 2600lbs and you could easily make over 250hp on your B16 depending on your parts. Stick with the Civic.

we are doing an s13 240 right now. just to let you knwo its not a cheap swap. you start off with a red top motor and tranny at 1100.00, then intercooler and piping 400.00,labor is atleast 1000.00, clutch 300 or so,apexi afc 300.00 etc... then the little things youll need will add up slowly. so I would say 3500.00 or so and to get 350whp you will need to spray it for sure. another 500.00.i dont want to rain on your parade but would just like to give you a heads up and let you know its not a cheap swap.
... okay, i know this isnt original or anything, i personally know of three people that have sold there hondas and have bought a nissan 240 for "drifting" purposes and the rwd platform, cause thats the new cool craze. For those that have seen, we all know that Initial D is a badass cartoon with and excellent story line that gets your adrenaline pumping, but its just a cartoon. I think its kinda silly though, to go sell your car that you put so much time and sweat into for something that will be "easier". I predict that within a year, you will see twice as many 240s as you do now, and half as many modified civics... which i suppose is a good thing for the rest of us at ht, since the stereotype will move on to nissan instead of honda.
I'm not hating or anything, i think its cool if you wanna do that. 240s are good cars, specially for the money. i have a good friend that has a badass stripped 94 hatch with an ls/vtec and 9500 redline. he sold it for a 240, which i thought was kinda dumb, but he's happy so its cool (at least i was able to buy his sweet black racing phantoms
)

Well having had both the civic and the 240 I dunno what to say. There is nothing like destroying a new Z28 at the red light with a turbo civic. But for some reason the 240 is just so much fun to drive. Even stock there a great time. To imagine one with an sr20det... well ill let ya know in a few weeks as mines on the way.
I sold off my entire honda project a couple of months back...picked up a 95 240sx
, an sr20det, and still had money to buy the Z32 calipers and rotors. I definitely know that I made the right decision when I first drove the 240sx....even with the stock KA motor.
