Anyone paint there car black or have experience w/maaco(pics wanted)
uhm if you want to change colors i wouldnt suggest going to maaco unless u pay like 1 grand...
i payed 500$ cdn and got my car resprayed same color, i must say it was a good job they did made the car look new..
(dont expect them to do any bodywork, even though they say they do
)
why not sell your red car and buy a black one... i think thats much cheaper.

Yes macco can do it, if you prep it then it will look alot better. First since your car is red, I would by some paint stripper and strip the hole car. This stuff is great, you spray it on the car and your scrap the paint off. Second, if you don't tell macco what you want then expect to be pissed off when you see something you did not want painted. The one went to, the guy came out and I showed him what I wanted painted. I also asked to see what the place looked like and some other jobs. He just rolled a car out of the place and it did look pretty good. I also had a piece of molding that was not on the car but he still painted it for me. Don't expect a 3,000 paint job when it comes out though. Some maccos are worsth then others. If you prep it and the place you take it to seems good, then you should get a good paint job
Here is my car
It has almost been 3 years since it has been painted. It is not chipping at all. And the shine is still there, since then I have takin all the sticker off and painted everything black again.

I got mine sprayed at Maaco. I did all the body and prep work myself, and got the $850 paint job for $450 thru a friend. Check it out....
macco paint jobs are fine, good prep work is the answer to everything. Also if they mess up or you don't like it, tell um to do it over, thats what my friend did. His car came out great!

anyoen ahve a link to a good prep work thread that descibes what you have to do? i di a search and it didnt come out too well.
if you do all the prep work yourself and do it well, then it should be decent. i knew someone who did that and it didn't turn out that bad, considering it only costed about $200.
yea, exactly what is involved for prep work? how much time we looking at for someone who has never done such things?
also, im willing to spend about 1000 total on the paint.. would it be possible to find a shop that does all the prep work with DECENT paint for that price or am better off doign my own prep and then getting the $500+ maaco job?

My friend had his 95 civic painted there twice already (2nd time because of a accident) and both times they came out very well. He paid just over 700.00 for them each time. Thats where I plan on taking my car in March to get painted. It just depends on which maaco you go to since they are all owned by diffrent people.
