I was just wondering how important and how often or how common is it about the oil thing on the recall that they did on the 5th gen Accords. I got the thing in the mail and I told myself that I was going to go and get it done before the holidays but I was way too lazy to take it to Honda to get it replaced or changed(whatever they had to do). And the other ? was what other types of recalls do they have for the 5th gen Accord?

 

if the part recalled fails all your oil leaks out... give it your own value.

the other was a AC line clip or something ill scan the recall document.

 

if you dont take it in for the oil thing recall your car will catch fire and jo0 will die.

i also have a question about the recalls, if im getting an engine out of another car will they still honer the recall?

 

That recall ended Jan 1st, 2003 so you are too late. You will have to pay regardless. I would recommend getting it done though. If that seal does come out and you don't pull over within a few seconds, your engine will seize. It leaks oil out that fast.

 

i did have this seal go out on my old motor a while back. the oil light came over, and i pulled over to the nearest gas station. bought some oil, and proceeded to drive. when i looked back through my rearview, i noticed i was trailing oil everywhere. needless to say i bought 7 qrts and drove home, car was fine

 

happened to my friends 96 accord, he was taking me home last year, and when he left my driveway, hella oil was coming out....u could literally follow a line about one to two inches wide of oil, down the street, all the way to his house like, 2 miles away. you can now barely see the oil now, but it was a mess.

 

the part is roughly two fiddy (2.50)

 

We are still doing these at work every so
often. It's preaty easy to do.

 

does anyone have a pic of where the piece goes, i want to check as well to make sure my recall was done.... and instructions to fix it...Thanks in advance!!!!

 

when you buy the part it comes with instructions. its cheap, go buy it.

 

Is there away to tell if this caused a problem? As of last night my car has a 4" hole in the front of my block for no apparent reason

 

i dont think there is anything you can do as of now since the recall was over as of the 1st of the month.

 

I live in KS and never got that recall. Was it on certain 5th gens? I have a 94 4rd ex. I haven't had the problems your describing (yet). Should I go get it checked out?

yeah i would get it checked out, youll have to pay for it now eh unless you can work some of that girlish charm on one of the service peeps.
