clutch pedal BROKE off!!?! please help me out!
well, as some of you know i just replaced the throw-out bearing fork in my crx because it was bent. ran fine for about 6 days. so today i push the clutch in to start the car and i hear a pop and the pedal gets all loose. car is started by this time , so i try to put it in gear and it wont go. come to find out that where the clutch cable attaches to the clutch pedal the cable broke. its a small fitting so i'm not TOO worried about it, but kinda pissed. so i look around for a second and notice that the pivot point/bar that holds the clutch pedal in place and allows the pedal to pivot is hanging there!! the pedal is all tweaked and hanging there!!!
the spot where its welded is actually broken.
so heres what i need to know:
what caused this?
what clutch/pressure plate setup should i get?(current is act SS w/ xtreme press plate, need something soft that will hold a 65 shot)
what should i do about the broken pedal? i could re-weld it then again i could get the new assembly. what do you think i should do?
i'm really frustrated right now, and about to throw in the towel with hondas. help me out please.
thanks for any replies, and take care.

that sucks, talk about a pain in the *** i had to replace one of those pedal brackets in a civic hatch and let me tell you, it is not a fun job at all to replace, what probably caused it to snap was the extra pressure you had to put on the pedal to push the clutch in, i wouldnt try welding it back ide just order the new part from honda and while your at it get there service department to put it in cause im telling you now its a pain in the nuts to replace
get a new clutch assembly from a junked crx....I think the clutch isn't attached to the break or gas, but i could be wrong

btw, sorry for the double post.
*edit= i should clarify that the pedal wasnt TOTTALY broken off or TOTTALY hanging there, just tweaked over to the side and not attached to the 'pivot' bar. if you look at your clutch pedal assembly the bar i'm talking about is the one that is in between the brake and clutch pedal, that attaches to the clutch pedal and is the pivoting point.

well i dont know what the technical name for the part would be but i would tell them you need a pedal bracket and sort of explain what you need, anyone whose not mentally handicapped should be able to figure it out, and btw the peice you need is for all your pedals clutch brake and gas, i cant remember exactly how i replace the thing but i do know it too me a good 4 or 5 hours and i woke up the next moring sore as hell from my body being contorted all wrong under the dashboard

Just get a whole new assembly from the junkyard. I have broken 2 pedal sets in the past 4 years on my CRX. The clutch pressure plate was too strong and for daily driving, in traffic and with all the hard shifting, the welds broke off, twice.
Not fun..
its not that easy to replace either. My dash was pretty much gutted and I had no carpet, and that thing was still a biaatch to replace.... but not impossible.
its just an awkward spot and the way you have to be positioned to get in there.
Take out your driver's seat for more room, thats for sure.

Yes take of your driver seat, and to get the new one in, you could take the clutch pedal off. This job is a pain, I did it when it was like 90 degres outside and boy it was hot down there. Also alittle tip, for some reason when I did mine, I lost the bolt that sliped threw the pedal, it attached to the master cylinder. Don't loose it what ever you do.
alright, i'm going to try to go to the junkyards and honda dealer tommorow before work. hopefully i can get that bracket ordered, along with my new clutch setup.(found a centerforce stage 2 setup, brand new for 220). thanks for all the replies guys, you've been a huge help!
