Default CTR lsd??

Is this unit the same as the one fitted to the integra type r? What all will I need to do to put this on my 1st gen b16? I found a great deal on a 98 CTR lsd, so I need some info on installing it.

It won't even come close to fitting unless you have a YS1 trans. And even then you will need to get a new set of diff bearings.

Actually, i beleive that 98 is the year that they started using ball bearings again (probably for easier installation at the factory).

Yes, and the bearings are taller than what was used in the earlier transes, just like every other bearing on an R.

No, your wrong. The bearings are wider than the old cable bearings, by about 1.5mm. They will fit properly, with the right shims of course.

Ya, you know what I meant, depends on how you are looking at it. Anyway, double that up, and also consider how much you are raising the ring gear. Even if you could get the ring gear to line up properly (which would be near impossible) you would have +3.0. I have never seen an OEM trans with a shim this large, the largest honda makes is a 1.75.

thats true. Still should fit with all shims removed. And if not, 90-91 bearings are only $25.

Which still doesn't rectify the larger ring gear that the CTR diff utilizes, and the need to change the final drive ratio if you're going to use the CTR ring gear. Buy the right one and it will fit right the first time, and you won't even have to destroy any trans' trying to get it right.
