what does the lump do ? crz zc hood
what does the lump do ? crz zc hoodIt is so the Valve cover, where the cam gears are, clear the hood. I had to cut the metal structure out of my hood so it would close properly. So it does actually have a function.

either you will have to strip away some of the insulation of the usdm hood or get a zc hood to remedy this problem.

my ZC cam cover didnt look like that! put to washers on each bolt of the engine mount to lower the engnie a little bit and its fine!!! also even easier, just take the stupid plastic thing off and it wont hit the hood...
Even with my plastic cover off there was still wear marks on the hood from the timing belt. I installed the same engine in someone else's 91 CRX and after the first ride his hood had the same marks, we cut away the insullation on his hood where it was hitting and it's been fine since.
yeah my friend has a zc, and he doesn't have that cam cover. he says he rubs a bit, but i'm not sure. he hasn't complained about it since, but there's no sign of real damage, but on the other hand he did have to replace teh belt, because his gears were eatting the belt. but he really wantrs a zc hood and that would really help.
I would not recommend taking the plastic cover off. Doing this will cause the timing belt to hit the hood. This will cause the belt to break. I speak from experience.
I have the USDM hood and had to carve a rectangle out of the factory insulation material but mine fits fine witht he cover and no rubbing. It is so close that I can see how differences between difference cars and installs could make a difference.
Don't think I'd want to leave the cover off though, too many important things in there for debris to drop into and damage.

im telling you put a couple washers in the engine mount it will work. my timing belt has only hit once, that was when i broke my rear engine mount...
For my ZC install (with a USDM hood), we just put the washer in the mount like someone else mentioned. It still rubbed a tiny bit, so I just cut a little bit of the insullation right about where the bump out is on the ZC hood, and no more rubbing.
I didnt know that Hf's didn't have insullation on their hood.... are you sure of this?

You can fit a ZC under a USDM hood without cutting anything.
the sir hood is for the sirs... the b16s are taller. i wast even aware that edm and jdm si's had bubles on them, since everyone ive seen doesnt and the zc fits nicely inside
