How did most of you guys cut your valve cover?

How did most of you guys cut your valve cover?
I would like to keep my car as sleeper as possible, so if I could keep my cam gears from being exposed all of the time it would be nice, but I also need quick and easy access for the dyno of course. If not what is the simplest way to do it? I'm thinking of just hacking off the whole side instead of doing the fancy "moon" design stuff.

Buy a cheap valve cover off a GSR then cut the GSR one and swap it on when u go to the dyno
