Do a search in car audio section. Basically stick with DEI products and you will be good.

I've always had good luck with Alpine alarms systems.

Alpine are good if you want to spend the extra money.

IMHO, an alarm system is only good to use as keyless entry, regardless of price. I say go buy a basic viper system (or any dei) for around $200-250. If you don't want your car stolen, look into custom kill switches and the AUTOLOCK is a MUST. To date, there has never been a car stolen with the AUTOLOCK, unless towed away.

check audio/security forum. they talk about this stuff all the time. i'm still stuck trying to get a quality alarm. i'm not so worried about my accord or s2k, i'm worried about my goofy winter/beater/sleeper hatcback '93 civic. (knock on wood). good luck with your search.
i agree with the guy about the autolock... heard good things about it, as well as lo-jack (if it's available in your area).

my alarm works great for opening my locks - all honestly though, an alarm is only as good as the install. I used to install professionally and many of our installs were to fix other peoples work. I've always like DEI and Alpine (loved the radar sensor on my crx), but an alarm is pretty much alarm when it comes to basic features. It all comes down to a central brain that accepts inputs from various sensors - although some are more intelligent than others. So you might ask who has better quality sensors? Definitely DEI and alpine - that's about all I worked with though.

First go to a quality shop not a chain store. The alarm is only as good as the installer. Figure out what options you want and what you can squeeze in to your budget. Actually go check out http://www.viper.com. This way you know before you walk in to the store.
let everyone know what you got and how you like it.
