Default B18c5 bottom end with b16a head I just bought it!

Just got this through a guy i know from ebay japan for £685 ($1044)

Spec is B18c5 JDM bottom end (pistons rods etc), B16a JDM head (so it plugs straight into a EF8 SiR), Jun type 3 cams inc spings etc, Mugen 2 layer head gasket, Toda flywheel.

How much power would that set-up make? & whats the CR I looked on C-speed racing that worked it out at 11.40?

Nope the guys had it running for around 10,000km with no problems but he wants to build up a B20Vtec to go in its place! The good thing for me is its comin out of a JDM EF8 SiR so it will bolt & plug straight into my car a JDM EF8 SiR!

Any1 got any idea what power it should have & also what rev limit I should run??

Shipping works out at £200 all in (it going over in the back of a landcruser).

Could any1 answer a question or two plz!

Also if the CR is around 11.4 wud a 50/75shot of N20 be ok or wud I be better changing the head gasket to a thicker one to drop the CR down bellow 11?

At that high of compression I would not run nitrious A head gasket would lower the compression but not near enough. That is a good motor to keep N/A or if you just have to run nawwwzzz get some low comp. pistons

If I run it with 97 octane UK fuel & a thicker head gasket?

Or what kinda power should it make NA on 97 octane again?

importreview.com did a dyno run of one of their motors on regular pump gas and then on race gas and the increase in power was very very unnoticable. running alot better gas is alot better for your motor, but you wont gain hp.

i replied earlier. Im a big N/A fan for a street/race set-up. You have a real good platform to start on for an all-motor street set-up as long as the engine is in good shape and has been properly maintained. Do what you want with it.

The CRX the motor will be going into is mainly my fun car I do 1/4's, trackdays, fast road driving & car shows in it (looks nice too ;-) ).

I'm gona see how high the CR is when it turns up if it silly high & wont run on anything but race fuel (we get 95 or 97 octane fuel in the UK) I'm gona have to drop the CR a bit as I do plenty of miles in the car & cant afford the fuel if it needs race spec octane.

Then its down to either droping it to say 10.5:1ish (custom head gasket) & running it on N20 or keeping it around the 11.5:1 max or just running it if its not too high when i get it.

If I run it All Motor I'll prob get a pair of Carbs as they should help the breathing as its got a stock b16a2 TB/intake manifold right now & Carbs are much cheaper than ITB's!

Running on Carb's what kinda power/torque should I be gettin with this motor & @ what rev's?

Finaly I called the bottom end a B18c5 cuz the jap guy thats my mate called it one!
I know it will just have B18c on the block but its defo a Type R B18

BillB thanx for the replys over 400 views tho now!!!
