JDM B20B Swap into 92 Civic Si
hi i was wondering if anyone knew how to swap the jdm b20 into a 92 civic si hatch.... and is it plug and play and is it OBDII or OBD I..... all the info people have would be helpful .... thanks
hey is yours the 146hp with 133 trq... which tranny you use. and dont i need to get a OBD II to OBD I converter? and its all plug and play without modifying my stock p28 ecu from my civic si with vtec?
If you got a complete OBDII motor, you can use an OBDII Integra LS engine harness to make the engine and engine to chassis harness plug and play. You do not need an OBDI to OBDII adapter unless you plan to use an OBDII ECU which I wouldn't recommend. Just get a 94-95 Integra LS OBDI ECU and intake manifold and you should be set.
i thiknk all of hte b20's are obd II... so are you saying that if i got the obdII i can still use a 94-95 obd I and intake manifold? sorry for all the questions im just getting ready for the swap and i need all the help i can get
Yes you can use the parts that I listed. But since you are in CA you might want to ask some guys if that setup would be legal there. You might have to go all OBDII to be legal and pass the visual testing.
B20Bs are all OBDII, but there are pretty much four flavours of the motor:
JDM B20B from Orthia/SMX with LS intake
JDM B20B (96-01) CRV (same as USDM specs)
if its a JDM CRV (giraffe) type, you'll require LS intake manifold first, for all others and CRV you can proceed as follows:
OBDII injectors can be used but will require to use the OBDII plugs
simply swapping your OBDI injectors in for ease is much better
distributor can be replugged and made OBDI with just plugs
for mounts use b-series mounts
tranny hydro GSR/B16A/LS/R/SiR will work fine, if the motor will be LS/VTEC or built with cams lean towards the B16A/GSR/R tranny. for boost GSR tranny
ECU use 92-3 PR4 or 94-5 P74 or P75, 92-5 P06 DX ecu can also be ued but in chipped form it works very well

are you saying mr that only the jdm crv b20b's have the same specs as the usdm b20b's? Its an ongoing debate about which jdm b20b's have the high compression pistons or the lower. Most people just say "ALL jdm b20b's have the 9.6 cr pistons" until somone posts a picture of their low cr pistons, then they shutup for a while...
