how hardcore r u draggers????
well ive been thinkin for awhile and i didnt want to do a standalone cause i personally dont think they r worth the money. so i got a little crazy and started unpinning wires out of the stock wire harness. my car has no AC/heat but still utilizes the stock tach, motor temp, fan and speedo. total today i prolly (just guessin) shaved a whoppin 2lbs worth of wire, maybe 3. i still got more wires to take out. i did hook it up initially and i still have power throughout (which i was surprised) the ignition has power, hazards, brake lights work, turn signals work (only rear, i have a 1 piece front end). yeah i was bored.
aww hell i was just bored. like i said i had been thinkin it over for awhile. was it worth it.............. prolly not, but surprisingly enough that harness does weigh quite a bit.
is this a street car or a race car?
Either way, id never do that in my street car
My friend is King of Deadweight, you'd laugh if i told you some of the stories, haha

The most we've done with our race car is strip out the rear harness leaving just one wire for brake light... Never touched the one upfront.. Started that, but got bored after a few wires.. props to you.
THIS IS HARD CORE!
removing your front breaks to get rid of 80 pounds of your car that's hardcore!
you streetracers you know what I am talking about!

What I had out: All interior except for dash including heater fan housing/AC evaporator core (headliner, side pannels, speakers, head unit, console and center pieces, everything down to metal, driver seat swapped for a lighter momo seat.
All A/C componets, Powersteering pump, Windsheild washer reservoir and pumps, Rear hatch subbed for fiberglass/lexan unit, rear bumper (not cover, actual bumper) removed, cruise controll linkage and actuation computer, cf hood subbed for stock hood.
Oh, did I mention this was a daily driver?

pulling out all the wires in the harness makes it so much easier and less obtrusive. and you would be AMAZED at how much weight you can save.
Speaking of being amazed at weight savings... has everybody gotten all of the black sound dampening material off of the floor boards and everything... All you do is get some dry ice (form any major grocery store) and some good gloves. Set the dry ice on the stuff moving it around for a minute and then take the back side of a screw driver and whack it right in the middle of it... then pick up the pieces... do that to all of the patches on your car... 1 it loooks much better inside if your stripped and 2 it's about 40 lbs. weight savings...out of a 92 hatch and somewhere near the same for tegs... Hope this helps.

<--Stripped under tar from uunder the car, everbit of panel that is not needed. tar from under the carpet, heater, ac, etc...
the sound deadening in my 92 hatch was NOTHIN. the only place it was at was under the floor mats. i took a wire wheel on a grinder (wear glasses and ear protection) and let the wire wheel do its work. worked wonders for that old crap. id guess only 5 lbs though.

Just finished this a few weeks ago in my CRX and it was only like 15-17 lbs.
Well, I just finished my friends 95 hatch and we weighed it in a coffee can, then weighed the coffee can and the material itself (not the caontainer it was in) weighed 32lbs I guess we just got a lot more out with the dry ice method it's not hard at all either... Just take the dry ice set it on the area and in a minute you will hear a cracking noise then just use a putty knife/screw driver and simply pry it up like you would a paper plate on cement... Then after you hear the cracking noise move the ice to another section and pick up the pieces of the last piece... Took like 30 min to do the whole car!!! WEll anyway...
Hope this helps.

My friend Corey's daily driven DA6 - All sound deadening removed (floor, boot, dash), perspex rear hatch, no dash, no heater, fan, AC, but has retained P/S for daily driving.
13.1 @ 103mph on DOT Street slicks, with just I/H/E, FYI. I have a video somewhere, but I need to upload it.

i drove it on the streets for quite some time in this condition. except w/out the full slicks up front...i ran full street tires.
what you cant see is the open header...i usually ran it with full exhaust but i would unbolt the muffler if i wanted a little more attention.
yes the windows are lexan and fixed to the window frame(s). i usually drove during the day because of the one headlight.

i consider myself somewhat hardcore compared to most of the racers in my are simply because of the fact that i drive an ls/vtec hatch with straight pipe and no interior. but i cant compare to my friend jeromy's hardcore dedication. heres some pics of his hatch, it's a 89 hatch, lexxan all around, b16 w/ skunk stage 3 cams, tmw individual throttlebodies, frequent 10k rpm pulls, one sometimes two seats, no carpet, no gauges other than tack, and multiple switches to turn on random things. it's what most would consider non-streetable but believe me, he puts his mileage on it.
