Ran a compression check on my car. It currently has 56,000mi and burns oil like a freak. I got 215psi on the dot on all four cylinders. Good or bad? Thanks in advance.

The biggest concern is how close the # are to eachother!
Looks good

Well everyone was dead on the spot. I didn't block the throttle body open. Does that really matter?

You should redo the test with the throttle wide open. It should def hav an effect on the numbers but they'll still come out good IMO considering the 215's across the block.

Will they be better or worse?

Like h00tch said though, as long as they aren't horribly low and don't vary much you'd good to go.
Why is it burning oil anyways? oil rings?

How varied is bad? Neighbor's friend bought a '99 GS-R that we suspect has been ridden hard. Outsides are 210, middle two are 240.

Not sure about the percentages...but according to my 95 helms, the maximum psi variation is 28 psi for the b18c1...with a nominal compression of 270 psi and minimum being 140. I imagine the numbers are similar to that of a b18c5.

Yeah I guess so because it burns it BAD. I'm talking like 4 quarts or more between oil changes. I always keep an eye on it though and have never ran it low yet.

Or it could be you drive your car REALLY hard.
Helms says:
213 nominal
135 minimum
28 max variation
My B18C5 was 205-210 and my B18C 96 Spec was 205 across. My old B18C1 was 205 across too.

You know I did a compression check over the weekend as well....I pulled 210 in each cyl without the throttle wide open. I have 30k on the car and I am going through a quart every 1000 miles it seems. I don't know what the problem could be but I am running rich as hell.....took the car on its first road trip and went about a 120 miles using up a little over half a tank
.....I think there is some thing wrong
[Edit] Oh yeah i just have an intake, axle back and timing advanced 2.......

About how warm? We just checked the compression on my buddy's jdm r motor and all the cylinders were in between 225-232. I took a temp gun and checked where the spark plugs are and it said 115degrees. Just wondering about how warm it needs to be?
